JUST THE F.A.Q.s
Long after the cake is cut, and the music has ended, the images from your wedding day will always remain. Candid moments and formal portraits capture the essence of your special day and reflect your individual flair as bride and groom as well as your spirit as husband and wife. Your hand bound bridal album tells the tender story of your wedding day from start to finish: a treasure to cherish for a lifetime.
Choosing the professional that will capture and deliver these wonderful memories is certainly no easy task. In an effort to assist with this process, we have created this F.A.Q. Sheet to share a little about ourselves with you as well as provide you with a good list of questions to consider in the event you interview other wedding photographers.
Q – How long have you been photographing and, more importantly, how long have you been photographing weddings?
A – We have been photographing as a hobby, more of a passion really, since 1995. In 2002, we began apprenticing with an exceptionally talented wedding photographer to ensure we understood the specific challenges and opportunities associated with wedding photography and have been photographing weddings ever since.
Q – What style of wedding photographer would you consider yourself?
A – Although no one style perfectly represents our unique vision, we are best described as a harmony of elegant portraiture and contemporary photojournalism. We most enjoy capturing the candid moments as they happen. Your wedding images will tell the wonderful story of your special day: a hug between a mother and son; the casual wipe of a tear from the bride’s cheek; and the precocious flower girl or ring bearer! With that said, we also beautifully capture Traditional formal portraits that many of our clients feel are a part of any complete wedding day.
Q – What type of camera, lenses and other equipment do you own and use when capturing a wedding?*
A – Our equipment consists of only Canon professional grade gear, including several D-SLR camera bodies, a large assortment of fixed and zoom lenses, several external flashes as well as other professional accessories.
*A little note regarding equipment. We do recommend that you ensure the photographer is using quality professional grade equipment and that he or she is comfortable with the capabilities and limitations of their gear.
Q – Do you recommend having a second photographer present at the wedding ceremony and reception?
A – We always recommend a second photographer for any size wedding for the simple reason that one person can not be in two places at once. Having another professional photographer present ensures that the special moments being captured are immortalized from varying vantage points using different lenses resulting in dramatically different images.
Q – If a second photographer is recommended, how do you select that photographer?
A – As a husband and wife team, we always work together to document your wedding day. Consistently working together provides for effortless interaction, efficient communication and proven results.
Q – Do you photograph destination weddings and if what is the investment difference as compared to a local wedding.
A – Absolutely! We would love nothing more than to document your special day on an exotic tropical island, among the Aspens as they change colors in Colorado or on the banks of the Grand Canal. In today’s world of global connectivity, we do not feel the need to charge more for destination weddings therefore the the only investment difference is the cost of our travel & accommodations.
Q – How do I determine what style, shape and size bridal album to Order?
A – We offer custom designed albums at a range of prices that vary greatly in style, design and materials. All these factors can be somewhat confusing and at times overwhelming. We will schedule a consultation and walk you through all your options. We will then create a custom design, review the layout with you and, once approved, have your bridal album hand bound and delivered. Rest assured, we only work with the highest quality album companies to ensure that regardless of which book we create together your album will be a work of art that you can enjoy for a lifetime.
Q – Will I receive the high resolution digital negatives of my wedding images?
A – Receiving your high resolution digital images from your wedding day is an option much like any of the other components that can be included in a packages so we can customize your package to include or not include this element.
Q – What about price? *
A – We have found that wedding photography coverage is often as unique as the couple seeking a photographer and that many variables influence the cost of wedding photography coverage. Although we have assembled several unique packages, we much prefer to create a custom wedding photography package for each couple based on their specific needs and expectations after our first consultation.
*A little note regarding pricing – We can all admit, wedding vendor pricing is a very important consideration. This is, of course, a question that has to be asked when evaluating photographers; however, we have intentionally placed it toward the bottom of this F.A.Q. Sheet because it should most certainly not be the first or only consideration when evaluating a wedding photographer. We try to encourage couples to evaluate their wedding budget to ensure they do not dedicate excess financial resources to other aspects of the wedding at the expense of quality photography. Regardless of how the photographer prices their services, what’s most important is that you clearly understand what your financial investment is and exactly what you will receive for that investment.
OK, enough with the interview questions…on to a few important considerations.
It is essential to keep in mind that if selected, you will be sharing your entire wedding day with this photographer. Now that you know all about the equipment, talent and experience of the photographer, here are some things to pay particular attention to when meeting with the potential candidates.
- Was he or she on time and professionally attired?
- Was he or she well prepared and ready to present their services?
- Was he or she willing and able to provide samples of products they offer?
- Was he or she prepared to answer your questions as well as offer insight and
recommendations when appropriate?
- Did you feel that his or her personality and demeanor are well suited to your
own?
We hope that these questions and considerations helped you get to know us a little better and can assist you in the event you interview other photographers. We are truly appreciative of your interest in Don Mamone Photography and would be honored to be a part of your special day!
