Auto enthusiasts & collectors know that their cars are more than just modes of transportation; they are works of art and Dream Garage is the gallery in which they are stored, cared for and displayed. This is no ordinary garage though! Each owner in complete control of the design of their dream garage from the tile floors to the granite counter tops and can therefore be certain that the decor will perfectly compliment not only their collection but their personality as well.
While documenting the grand opening on behalf of Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine, I was most certainly like a kid in the proverbial candy store! Just imagine your very own two story garage complete with enormous flat screen tv, surround sound system, refrigerators and wet bar all surrounding your jaw droppingly gorgeous and no doubt rare collector’s auto! Paints a pretty picture doesn’t it!
I always thought that fashion and style are like two peas in the proverbial pod! Recently I photographed an event for Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine that served as all the confirmation I needed to know that this is a relative certainty.
Bo Concepts Furniture Gallery recently hosted a fashion show for one of Dallas’ hottest clothing designers, Abi Ferrin. Exceptional food and exotic beverages were in good supply as Abi’s internationally acclaimed signature designs were presented to an eager crowd. Bo Concept’s contemporary urban design well complimented Abi’s “Fashion with Freedom & Purpose” style and a personal appearance by the ever popular designer was most certainly the highlight of the evening!
As you might imagine, the pool of wedding vendors in an area as large as the DFW Metroplex, is equally as large. What you may not expect is that a “family” of vendors can be a much smaller and more intimate group. I often have the pleasure of working with the same exceptional vendors at various weddings and events based on referrals, vendor lists and word of mouth. The more this happened, the more I realized that I should use this forum to share their information with you from time to time.
Shannon, President of Freesia Floral Design, and I met while I was photographing the launch of Brides Magazine at the Crescent Hotel for Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine. I speak from experience when I say that Shannon, Morgan and the entire team at Freesia have been a pleasure to work with each and every time our paths have crossed since. As you can see, their floral designs in the Crescent Club were striking, unique and dramatic; a perfect compliment a gorgeous venue and your most special day!
I can say with a reasonable amount of certainty that most of my blog posts have one thing in common; love. I believe they also touch upon loyalty, devotion and happiness. Well, this entry is no different!
We were first introduced to Kenzie as we made our way home from a very nice Saturday morning at Lowes (we would have gone to Bed, Bath & Beyond as well but there simply wasn’t time). Emily casually mentioned that they are adopting rescue animals in front of Petsmart. Having recently talked about wanting to add a furry member of the canine persuasion to our family, we stopped in. Kenzie, who we named after the Hilton Kensington where we first stayed during our trip to London in March, slept peacefully in her cage while the other orphans made quite a ruckus. We asked to see her and although reluctant, she slowly crawled into out laps and it all over…we fell in love immediately!
Kenzie is six months old as was rescued by the Guardian Angels of Dallas from an abusive home where she was tied to a fence in the hot Texas sun with no food or water. She seems happy and content to be with us now and I know for certain that we are happy to have her as part of our family!
It was a such a pleasure to be a small part of Angela & Andrew’s wedding day. Our sincere congratulations and best wishes as they start their new life together!
Like so many others, I have a moderate obsession with all things coffee. I spent so much time working and drinking coffee in my favorite local coffee shop, Saxby’s in Farmers Branch, that I began to form of a friendship with the owner Bill and his exceptional team of Baristas. One day, he graciously extended the invitation for me to place images and business cards throughout the shop. I eagerly accepted of course.
Some may be asking, “What could all this possibly have to do with Nearlyweds Daffne & Jason”? Well, I first heard from Daffne in the early spring. She indicated that she frequented Saxby’s and had seen my images and was interested in photography coverage for her wedding in November. I met with Daffne and Jason twice, at Saxby’s of course, to confirm all the details and in those meetings it was immediately clear how much they adore each other and how much fun their love is! Capturing that love in these images was so much fun for me; I look forward to being there to do it all again on their wedding day!
Anyone that has had the opportunity to visit Santa Barbara, a beautiful seaside community on California’s central coast, knows that it is nothing short of paradise. Being one of the fortunate few that called this paradise home for nearly a decade, I often reflect back on all the splendor that makes The American Riviera so captivating and what it is that I miss the most? 300 hundred days of sunshine, miles of gorgeous beaches, acres of sun soaked vineyards; all contenders but none are top of the list. The clear winner, by a substantial margin, is the close friends I left behind!
I recently returned to Santa Barbara for the first time in over a year and before we commenced with the “catching up” festivities at one of our favorite ocean front watering holes, I spent some time with Debbie, Bill and their beautiful daughter Nikki at the beach capturing these family portraits! Having lost the luxury of regularly spending quality time together, as we often did, this portrait session was that much more special for me!
Recently, on a hot summer day in Dallas, I was craving a little fresh sushi and cold saki when I happened upon the newly opened Hibashi Teppan Grill Sushi Bar. Located just across the tollway from The Galleria in a new luxury mid-rise complex, this inviting and seemly modest eatery may appear to the casual observer as any ole’ sushi joint but nothing could be further from the truth. The contemporary design and stylish decor perfectly compliment the delicious artistry presented by the culinary team setting Hibashi apart from all the rest!
What does any of this have to do with photography though? Well, my borderline obsession with sushi and my immediate affinity for Hibashi ensured that I was a regular in no time at all. Shortly thereafter I began working with the professional owner and management teams and the images above were the result of that relationship. I must admit, the top image is among one of my new favorites.
Katelyn & Billy were wed on a beautiful August day in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Family and friends gathered from far and near to celebrate their union with an intimate ceremony and elegant reception taking place on the grounds of the White family home.
After capturing the traditional formal images and before the reception began, we had the unique opportunity to travel down to road with just Katelyn and Billy to the over century old White’s Factory that stands to this day and is part of the Faihaven Acushnet Land Preserve. The images captured at this historic edifice and in the adjacent field are some of my very favorite from that day. How fortunate to be able to have had such a unique experience and share it all with an exceptionally talented photographer and friend. Thank you, Ned!
Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine in conjunction with Warren Barrón Bridal recently hosted the Vera Wang Bridal Event at the prestegious shopping mecca Highland Park Village. Brides-to-be were out with fiancés in tow mingling and enjoying scrumptious food and cocktails ready to view the latest and certainly greatest wedding gowns from immensiley popular designer Vera Wang. I have seen my fair share of wedding gowns and although not an expert on the matter, I would say that the attendees had every reason to be impressed.
