Working (and Playing) in Ireland

guinness 300x200 Working (and Playing) in Ireland Picture

All work and no play is a saying that I have heard fairly often in my 32 years. Family and friends repeat it from time to time as a reminder to stop, look around and enjoy life. Those we work with may utter it when we are not being at our most productive with a twinge of irony in their voice.

Well, I posted the above picture to ensure that everyone knows that we are making sure to soak up some of the local culture here in Ireland between all the travel and various photo shoots. It certainly makes a perfect pair. Cheers!

The Emerald Isle

I have heard that few places in the world compare to the beauty and splendor of the landscapes in Ireland. Having been here in Shannon in the County Clare on the South Western coast of the Emerald Isle for just a few days; I most certainly agree! We are on location in a fairly rural quaint little town called Six Mile Bridge where we have rented a 40 Acre property called Mount Cashel Stables. Our home away from home consists of a main house and 2 cottages beside a charming lake with a small dock ( as seen in the images above) and all the lush and gorgeous landscape a photographer could ask for! There is no shortage of company either as the property comes fully equipped with 2 donkeys, two dogs and a horse.

I am sure that most all of you know that Ireland is famous for rainy, drippy and dreary weather and that weather has not been elusive since our arrival! Despite the moisture, we persevered and in our first few days we have visited the Dromoland Castle, Clare Abbey and Quinn Abbey. I aim to post images every day or two to chronicle our adventures so please stop back by!

I recently had the opportunity to photograph the national launch of Jimmy Choo’s new eye wear line on behalf of Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine.

The infamous Ghostbar at Dallas’ chic W Hotel was packed with everyone who is anyone on the social scene! Stunning models strutted down the runway adorned in Abi Ferrin’s “Fashion with Freedom & Purpose” and sporting Jimmy Choo’s new shades. The crowd drank and danced into the night; a great time was had by all…especially me!

Jim Henson’s lovable creature Kermit the Frog confessed in song that “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” Although his difficulty with being green was meant in the much more literal sense, now more than ever we hear how critical and easy it is “to be green.” Being green in today’s sense refers to being aware of one’s carbon foot print, participation in recycling programs and other Earth friendly behaviors.

You are probably asking yourself, what does any of this have to do with photography? Well, I was just getting to that. I recently had the pleasure of participating in a photo shoot at a local Dallas vintage store. Although not often thought of as particularly Earth friendly, buying vintage and re-manufactured clothes is an exceptional way to be green. So, there are a plethora of ways to be green and they are easier than most may think. I encourage everyone to do their part to save our most precious resource…Earth!

Logo-A-Gogo

Before I commence with any formal introductions I must apologize for my clear and blatant disregard for my Blog and by extension my readers! (Maybe that is a tad bit dramatic) Anyway, the recent purchase of a home and the relocation of my studio has consumed more time than I had anticipated…not that any excuse is good enough to have forsaken my loyal reader! (No, that is not a typo… I am certain that my Mother is the only person that has continued to tune in for this long overdue entry!

So, as the title of this entry indicates I am very excited to introduce my new logo as designed by the immensely talented Michelle Sainz of Newport Beach, CA. This new creative graphic will represent Don Mamone Photography and aims to provide a recognizable icon synonymous with our professional service, personal attention and timeless images.

Until next time…take care!

Today marks the launch of our new website, but you already know that because you are reading this, our very first blog entry, which you no doubt accessed from the new site. So why are we rambling on…well, we are just so excited we had to tell someone!

If you are as dedicated as we hope that you are you will clearly want to subscribe to our blog for the most up to date happenings. However, for those of you that are not quite ready for that kind of commitment (and you know who you are) please take the time to visit now and again to tune into all the action.

Thanks for reading and if you have questions, comments or topics you would like for me to include in my rants send me a note: info@donmamonephotography.com!
