If it is not immediately evident that I am somewhat behind on my wedding blog posts it will be once you check out Bonnie & Jeremy’s images below. You will likely notice that many of the them have a hint of the holiday season in them. Come on though…gimme a break. Better late than never…right?
Rachel Events planned and organized Bonnie and Jeremy’s simply beautiful ceremony at The Heights Baptist Church in Plano. From there Rachel and Mandy ensured that their reception at the Granville Arts Center was non-stop food, fun and dancing. Thanks to Rachel and Mandy for your all you do and and thank you Bonnie and Jeremy for inviting us to capture your very special day.
One of our favorite things about engagement sessions is the fact that each one is as unique as the couple we are photographing. As you would expect, attire and location are two of the big variables that help each session be special. Fun props are another element that can represent the couple, their relationship and ensure each session is distinctive!
In the case of Berni and Bryan, it was during their initial wedding consultation that they shared how much of their relationship was spent restoring Bryan’s 1968 Camaro and would very much like their engagement session to be centered around it. Two love birds, a classic Camaro and White Rock Lake…yes, please!
Once we are invited to be the wedding photography team for our couples, we also become their wedding photography consultants. What does that mean? Essentially, Emily and I are ready and willing to answer questions and advise them about all things having to do with photography. In the case of an engagement session, this can mean helping select the best attire, location and time for the session.
Since Heather and Tim mentioned that they wanted a contemporary urban backdrop we met them in Dallas’ historic West End as sunset approached. From there, Heather and Tim had found an awesome city baseball stadium where we could capture some images reminiscent of Tim’s days playing baseball. What a fun couple and awesome engagement session!
LaShundra chose the historic Cotton Mill in McKinney, TX as the venue for her bridal session since her ceremony and reception were both to be held at more contemporary locations. It seems to Emily and me that no matter how many times we have the pleasure of working at the Cotton Mill, we always manage to find stunning backdrops and perfect light. When you take these two photographic elements and add a beautiful bride that is all too happy to be your subject, you are left with awesome photos.
Many wedding professionals can tell you that personal referrals make up a good bit of their business and, as you can see, that fact proves true for Emily and me. It is always so much fun to photograph weddings from these personal referrals since, many times, the guest lists overlap and we already feel like family.
We met Jackie and Tanner while photographing her cousin Kori and Cosper’s lakeside wedding. We were so honored to return to The Cliffs Resort in Possum Kingdom Lake for another family wedding. As you will likely note very quickly, Tanner is an avid golfer and Jackie is quite the go-getter. So, while Tanner played a round with his groomsmen, Jackie and her bridesmaids put the finishing touches on her D.I.Y. bouquet and flowers. They are one amazing couple and very much in love.
Every year the Dallas Mavericks partner with OFS Brands Showroom to host the Furniture 4 Kids Charity event benefiting the Dallas Mavs Foundation. Since this was my second year documenting the event I thought I knew exactly what to expect and frankly was looking forward to it.
On the evening of the event, it would be tough to even recognize the showroom. Beyond provided light and sound to set the mood and get the party started. The emcee was none other than Mark Followill the voice of the Dallas Mavericks and celebrity appearances included Deshawn Jackson along with two of the Dallas Mavs Dancers. Kenny’s Woodfire Grill graciously provided food and entertainment included the Dallas Mavs Maniacs and LA cover band Stan Halen.
As the name of the event indicates, an immensely talented group of designers create the most amazing children’s furniture that are then voted on by, and auctioned off to, the guests in attendance. Gracious sponsors and donors provided other raffle and auction items to help raise money for a very worthy cause. What a great opportunity to have a great time while doing such a wonderful thing for kids in need.
One of the coolest things about Dallas is that within a short drive you can find locations that offer everything from urban art and architecture to big sky and sprawling landscapes.
LaShundra and Courtney just love the urban feel found in Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood. How can you go wrong with beautiful murals, contemporary architecture and quirky storefronts?
How often does a chance meeting at the local watering whole end in happily ever after? I know what you’re thinking…not all that often. Crystal and Josh’s story, however, began with just such a chance meeting at the Texas Roadhouse in the small Texas town of Tyler and is headed straight for happily ever after.
It was just a year after meeting Crystal that Josh cleverly led her on an elaborate scavenger hunt all the way from Addison to Tyler ending with his asking for her hand in marriage. We can’t wait to capture all the special moments on their wedding day!
I was flattered to learn that my brother-in-law subscribes to our blog and particularly enjoys reading our engagement posts and hearing all about how our couples first met. Camerine and Matt’s story should be no exception.
It was shortly after each of them ended a fairly long relationship that Matt’s friends invited him out for the evening. He was inclined to say no but having just seen the Jim Carey blockbuster “Yes Man” he decided he should go. It was that night that he met Camerine. The rest, as they say, is history.
Although Camerine and Matt’s wedding ceremony and reception will take place in McKinney, TX at TPC Craig Ranch, Camerine asked during our first consultation if we would travel to Punk Carter Ranch in Celina to capture her engagement images. We quickly agreed. She had been working at the ranch for many years and had grown to love it. I can certainly see why: it is rustic, beautiful and, for us, an awesome venue to photograph a couple in love.
Who says a wedding day has to be either traditional or contemporary? Meredith and Cory’s wedding ceremony at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church was traditional and elegant and their reception at Marc Events was stylish and contemporary.
