As an actress, Hilary is on stage under the lights on a consistent basis but this was the first time she was on the other side of a camera lens for such a personal session. Nevertheless, Hilary was on a mission to give her man a super sexy boudoir gift for his birthday. Since that is what we do, we were happy to help her with that! When we first met to discuss what the style of her Sheer Beauty boudoir session would be, Hilary was not certain exactly what she wanted. After just a few moments of chatting, it became much more clear. Hillary felt like she was the “girl next door” and wanted her boudoir images to represent that.

Her boyfriend’s blue button down shirt and flirty panty was the perfect first look that brought out her stunning blue eyes. From there, Hilary’s session only got hotter. Of course, we saved some of those images for his eyes only! I knew she would rock it and she certainly proved me right.

Tamra, the editor at Groom Sold Separately, contacted me at the beginning of the year and asked if I would be interested in being featured on their awesome blog site.  My exact reply, I believe, was “Um, yeah I would!”.

To get started, Tamra asked that I pull together a body of work (no pun intended) that well represented the Sheer Beauty brand.  I began to sort back through my portfolio of images and it was then I realized that something initially thought to be so simple would be much more complicated (and fun).

Sheer Beauty is so much more than just boudoir!  Clearly, boudoir is a big part of what I do; but, it certainly does not define what Sheer Beauty IS.  Alright then, enough with the existentialism, what IS Sheer Beauty?  Simply put, Sheer Beauty is whatever YOU are and whatever YOU want it to be.  It can be playful, sexy, fun, creative, alluring, shy, strong, confident, powerful, gorgeous…from there the list goes on and on.

It is my ultimate goal to help each girl and woman find and draw out her natural beauty and then capture it thought any style of photography.  It may be contemporary portraiture, fashion, editorial or boudoir photography but it will most definitely be you and you will be a Sheer Beauty.

This year I wanted to take a not so typical approach to a Saint Patrick’s day Sheer Beauty session! Rather than pay homage to the kitschy commercial “St. Patty’s Day” themed propaganda, I went on the hunt to find a beautiful woman that celebrates March 17, not only because it is St. Patrick’s Day but because it is her birthday.

I was inspired to capture natural images of Meghan among the new green spring growth. Add in a huge County Clare flag that Don found in Ireland years ago as a prop, see I told you I was a total prop junkie, and what you get are killer images!

Raise your glass of Guinness, Magners or Jameson and toast the luck (and beauty) of the Irish! Slainte!

I must admit that Valentines Day is one of my very favorite days of the year.  There are tons of reasons why: I love flowers, I love chocolate and I love being romantic.  What makes me love February 14 most of all though is that it can easily be the sexiest day of the year.  What a perfect reason to get your sexy on!

Initially, Kaylee reached out to me because she was in need of a fun and creative new head shot.  During our initial consultation, Kaylee admitted that she appreciated my art which is always so nice to hear, and that she loved that I specialize in only photographing women.  Then, with a shy smile, Kaylee also confessed that she had been considering doing something sexy and provocative for her boyfriend’ s Valentines day gift.  Before I knew it, I had just found the face (and body) of this year’s Sheer Beauty Valentine’s Day campaign.

I contacted my good friend, Sonya of Padma Yoga fame to book her studio for the session.  Her unique space is truly a photographers dream: an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows, a full wall of mirrors,  a polished black deck and lots of color!

Kaylee’s hair, makeup and wardrobe styling was provided by the uber-talented, ultra sassy Anastasia Strattan.  I always love to begin a Sheer Beauty boudoir session with a playful outfit.  In Kaylee’s case, she and Anastasia created the perfect ensemble with a half t-shirt sporting the word “Love” in bright red letters complimented by sexy boy shorts and thigh high gray knit stockings.  So fun, right?  It was time to move from playful to sexy!  Few things say sexy and Valentine’s Day more than hot pink lingerie.

Then, I mentioned to Kaylee that I had recently found a beautiful pink Mardi Gras mask in New Orleans that I had to have as a prop; I am a total prop junkie   Sporting an ultra sexy little white lingerie set and workin’ that pink mask, Kaylee was officially comfortable and totally got her sexy on.

My favorite part of Kaylee’s session?  When I showed her a sneak peek of her images before she left, she said, “I feel like a Victoria Secret Model”.   I just love helping clients feel their very sexiest.

Most everyone will admit that the holidays are a very special time of year!  Next year, take it upon yourself to make December even more special by giving him the most amazing gift he can imagine…you!
